Voters Face a Dilemma: Selecting the Lesser of Two Evils in a Biden-Trump Contest

A recent poll has underscored the challenging decision that voters will face in 2024 if the nominees are Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

According to the poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC, a majority of Americans (77%) believe that Biden, at 80 years old, would be too old to govern if reelected. Even among Democrats, 69% share this sentiment.

In comparison, only 51% of respondents think that Trump, who is three years younger than Biden, is too old.

Interestingly, when asked to describe Trump, the most common words used are “corrupt,” “dishonest,” “crooked,” or similar variations. This rate is nearly three times higher than that for Biden.

Furthermore, when it comes to voters’ opinions about these two candidates, it goes beyond age and integrity. Only 24% of respondents want Biden to run again, while just 30% want Trump to do the same.

Biden’s record has been less than impressive. Under his watch, the country has experienced the highest levels of inflation in decades, a surge in migrants overwhelming cities, and a rise in violent crime, homelessness, and drug-related deaths.

Moreover, Biden’s mishandling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan has sent a message of weakness and has emboldened Russia and China in their aggressive ambitions.

There is also mounting evidence suggesting that Biden and his family are involved in corrupt activities, with the Justice Department allegedly covering for them.

On the other hand, Trump is facing four separate criminal indictments, totaling 91 counts. Many consider him to be the most divisive leader the nation has ever had.

The lies Trump spread about the 2020 election being “stolen” and his lack of action during the Capitol riot are disqualifying on their own.

Given these factors, it’s no surprise that 53% of Americans say they would not vote for Trump.

All of this leaves voters with no ideal options if both Biden and Trump become the nominees.
