As Labor Day approaches on Monday, September 4, Spokane City Hall and other City facilities, including the Waste-to-Energy facility, will be closed.

For the entire week, solid waste services will experience a one-day delay, with Friday’s pickup happening on Saturday. If residents miss their garbage collection, they can conveniently report the missed collection online.

Here are the additional closures and cancellations for Labor Day:

  • On-street paid parking will not require payments, but it is essential to remember that all parking rules, including time limits, still apply even when parking is free on holidays.
  • All branches of the Spokane Public Library will be closed. The Hillyard Library will also remain closed on Sunday, September 3, for maintenance.
  • The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will not be operating.
  • In-person, phone, and online customer service inquiries with My Spokane 311 will not be available. However, the public can access the 311 online app 24/7, and messages will be responded to on the next business day.
  • Employees at the Development Services Center will not be available on Labor Day.
  • The Spokane City Council has cancelled its meeting for the week of Monday, September 4. The Council’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 11, with a 3:30 p.m. briefing session and a 6 p.m. legislative session. Meetings can be watched live on CityCable 5, the City website, and Facebook.

The City’s aquatic centers are closed for the season; however, the splash pads and golf courses will remain open throughout the Labor Day weekend. Starting Tuesday, September 5, the splash pads will begin to close.

Pig Out in the Park, a fantastic event featuring delicious food and live music, will take place from Wednesday, August 30, to Monday, September 4 in Riverfront Spokane. The Looff Carrousel, Numerica SkyRide, and Numerica Skate Ribbon will also be open during the Labor Day weekend. Visit the Riverfront website for more information.

The Spokane Symphony will be performing a free Labor Day concert at Comstock Park on Monday, September 4, at 6 p.m.
