July 12 (UPI) — A woman from Ontario has achieved a remarkable feat by amassing a collection of 1,618 uniquely packaged toothbrushes, earning her a well-deserved place in the Guinness World Records.
Kelly Hardy, residing in Mississauga, reminisces about the beginning of her collection at the age of 12 when she stumbled upon a toothbrush that boasted a built-in floss dispenser.
“I was intrigued by that toothbrush, and despite not purchasing it immediately, I couldn’t stop thinking about it for several weeks. I felt a strong impulse to acquire that toothbrush,” Hardy shared with CTV News.
Hardy’s assortment now proudly showcases 1,618 different toothbrushes, featuring beloved characters from The Simpsons and Star Wars.
“My passion for toothbrushes still burns brightly, and I continue to enjoy the thrill of the hunt,” she added.
To officially establish her record-breaking collection, Hardy meticulously arranged all her toothbrushes on tables inside a local school gymnasium, counting each one individually on video.
“It took approximately 40 minutes to count from one to 1,618,” she revealed.
The evidence of her achievement was subsequently submitted to Guinness World Records, who confirmed her victory a few weeks later, surpassing the previous record of 1,320 toothbrushes held by Grigori Fleicher from Russia.
