Anton Asistio showcased his skills in crunch time as Rain or Shine secured a hard-fought 106-100 victory over a TNT team bolstered by 3×3 players in the PBA On Tour. The thrilling contest took place at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Asistio’s clutch layup and jumper broke the 98-all tie, propelling the Elasto Painters to their sixth win in seven matches during the exhibition series.

Coach Yeng Guiao, who engaged in frequent arguments with officials throughout the game, expressed satisfaction in his team’s ability to secure a close result, especially after failing to do so against Barangay Ginebra a few weeks ago, which remains their only loss.

“We need these types of games to strengthen our mental toughness in preparation for the season,” said Guiao.

Rain or Shine weathered the storm against a depleted TNT team, which called upon the services of Almond Vosotros, Lervin Flores, Ping Exciminiano, and Gryann Mendoza from the PBA 3×3, where they have won multiple titles in the halfcourt discipline.

Gian Mamuyac led the scoring for Rain or Shine with 21 points, accompanied by 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Asistio contributed 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting for the Elasto Painters.

After TNT took the lead with a long jumper from Mendoza, Mamuyac converted two free throws to level the score at 98-98. Asistio then took charge, scoring a decisive layup followed by a midrange shot, giving Rain or Shine a 102-98 advantage with 1:05 remaining on the clock.

Despite Dave Marcelo cutting TNT’s deficit in half with a putback, Santi Santillan drained a crucial three-pointer to extend Rain or Shine’s lead to 105-100 with 36.1 seconds left.

The final scores were as follows:

RAIN OR SHINE 106—Mamuyac 21, Asistio 16, Santillan 13, Ponferrada 12, Clarito 10, Borboran 8, Ildefonso 8, Belga 8, Caracut 7, Demusis 3, Belo 0.
