Aug. 22 (UPI) — Christian Pulisic wasted no time in his AC Milan debut, scoring an incredible long-distance goal in the 21st minute against Bologna in Bologna, Italy, leading his team to a 2-0 victory.

Pulisic played a crucial role in setting up the first goal of the match at Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

“It’s such an emotional moment,” expressed Pulisic to the reporters. “I’m thrilled to score my first goal in my debut for the club. I vividly remember driving… and the only option I had was to shoot.

“It was a perfect finish at the back post. I was incredibly excited from that moment on.”

Pulisic transferred to AC Milan from Chelsea, one of the powerhouses in the English Premier League, just last month.

For the first goal, the American striker received the ball about 35 yards away from the Bologna net. He skillfully dribbled forward and delivered a cross from right to left, finding winger Tijjani Reijnders near the end line.

Reijnders swiftly kicked the ball back into the box with his left boot before it could go out of bounds. The pass bounced in front of the goal, where Olivier Giroud was perfectly positioned to finish the play with a right-footed strike inside the near post, scoring in the 11th minute.

Less than 10 minutes later, Pulisic doubled the lead. He skillfully navigated through a group of defenders after receiving the ball near the midfield. He then passed the ball to Giroud, who executed a quick give-and-go sequence, returning the ball to the waiting American.

Pulisic controlled the pass, took a touch, and lifted his head, launching a powerful shot from approximately 20 yards out. The ball scorched past Bologna goalie Lukascz Skorupski and found the left side-netting.

In the 28th minute, Pulisic once again found Giroud for another close attempt, but Skorupski managed to get a hand on Giroud’s volleyed shot.

AC Milan will face Torino in their next Serie A match, which will take place at 2:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.
