‘Political Act’ Accusation Leads to Texas Sending 10th Migrant Bus to Los Angeles

Texas has dispatched its 10th bus carrying migrants to Los Angeles, despite recent criticism from the city’s mayor. The bus transported a total of 39 migrants, including 12 families and 21 children. This bus was sent just five days after the previous one. Los Angeles Governor Karen Bass expressed disapproval of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to send migrants during the impact of Tropical Storm Hillary, referring to it as a political act. It is worth noting that the Los Angeles City Council designated the city as a sanctuary city for immigrants back in June.

In response to this ongoing situation, Mayor Bass once again condemned Abbott’s actions, accusing him of deliberately sending families and toddlers toward the city amidst a severe storm. On the other hand, Abbott’s press secretary, Andrew Mahaleris, clarified that the migrants willingly boarded the bus and signed a voluntary consent waiver. Each bus is equipped with necessities such as food and water, and drivers receive updated weather conditions to ensure the safety of everyone on board. Mahaleris also stressed that the federal government, not Texas, is responsible for processing and releasing these migrants.

Despite the controversy surrounding Texas’ decision, the state has already transported over 30,000 migrants to various Democratic-led cities across the country. It remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved in the future.
