Health officials in Nineveh, the province where the wedding occurred, have reported a death toll of 113 or 114. The BBC reports that another 150 individuals sustained injuries. A survivor of the fire recounts, “We saw the fire pulsating, coming out of the hall. According to an Iraqi official, the use of highly flammable and cheap building materials that collapse rapidly during a fire contributed to the tragedy.
