A social media advocacy group has filed a criminal complaint against actress-vlogger Toni Fowler for sexually charged content in the guise of music videos that she posts on social media pages. These videos have been deemed “immoral and indecent” and may already be considered pornographic.
In a 20-page complaint filed by the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. (KSMBPI), led by its president, Atty. Leo Olarte, the group accused Fowler of violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Violation of this law carries a penalty of P6,000 up to P12,000 in fines, and/or a jail term of up to 20 years.
KSMBPI is the same group that previously filed a similar complaint against TV host-comedian Vice Ganda and his partner Ion Perez for supposed obscene acts committed during their noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
In the present case, the group claims that Fowler’s actions, which include exhibiting lewd clothes, sex toys, and simulating sexual acts and intercourse with the use of sexually explicit words in her videos, are “patently offensive” under the law.
“Manifestly, the actions committed by respondent in her music videos, albeit cloaked in the realm of music, are appealing to prurient interests which serve no other purpose but to satisfy the market for pornography,” the complaint read
“Worse, respondent even had the audacity to include a minor named ‘Paye Galang’ in her videos at the time of recording,” the group further stated.
Fowler, the complainants claimed, even flaunted the explicit behind-the-scenes of her music videos by uploading them to her YouTube channel, which are unregulated and readily accessible online. The complaints cover videos posted on February 14 and May 14, 2023.
“In the entirety of the music videos, it is dominantly apparent that respondent willfully and knowingly exhibited lewd and obscene scenes or actions that are solely appealing to prurient interests. Respondent’s clothes, appearances, and actions are undeniably sexually explicit. This is completely unacceptable,” the group said in the complaint.
Olarte, in a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, stated that Fowler’s content is pornographic in nature.
