South Korea Devastated: Over 30 Lives Lost in Floods and Landslides

In the aftermath of heavy rain causing flash floods and landslides in South Korea, rescue workers have tragically recovered six bodies from vehicles trapped in a flooded tunnel. This devastating natural disaster has also resulted in over 30 deaths, the destruction of homes, and the evacuation of thousands of people.

A team of approximately 400 rescue workers, including divers, has been tirelessly searching the tunnel located in the central city of Cheongju. Several vehicles, including a bus, were swept away during a flash flood on Saturday evening. Although nine survivors have been rescued so far, the exact number of passengers trapped in vehicles remains unknown.

Since July 9, South Korea has been incessantly battered by heavy rains, resulting in the evacuations of nearly 6,000 people and leaving 27,260 households without electricity. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety reports that dozens of homes have been flooded or destroyed.
