Shocking Teenage Video: Laughing, Assaulting, and Tragically Taking the Life of Former Bell Police Chief, Officials Report – Orange County Register

Las Vegas police announced on Tuesday that two teenagers are facing murder charges for deliberately targeting a bicyclist in Las Vegas and capturing the incident on video. The shocking footage shows the moment they drove into the man as he pedaled along the side of the road.

According to Las Vegas police, the teenagers are believed to be responsible for at least three hit-and-run incidents on the morning of August 14th. They have linked the death of 64-year-old Andreas Rene Probst, a former police chief in Bell, California, to the final incident.

Video footage from the front passenger seat of the car shows the vehicle approaching Probst from behind as he was riding near the curb on a road with no other traffic. Shockingly, the car deliberately steers towards Probst and collides with his bicycle, causing him to be thrown onto the hood and into the windshield.

The final image captured from the moving car shows Probst lying on the ground next to the curb.

Deputy Police Chief Nick Farese condemned the recording from inside the stolen vehicle as an appalling and cowardly act. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson expressed personal interest in the case and vowed to charge both teenagers as adults, but their identities will not be revealed until formal charges are filed.

Taylor Probst, speaking at a news conference, described her father, also known as Andy, as a man of honor and integrity who served in law enforcement for over 35 years. She expressed devastation at his senseless murder, stating that her father’s life was taken by individuals who believed the lives of others did not matter.

Probst’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he worked for the city of Bell in LA County for 24 years, from 1985 to 2009. He retired from Bell in 2009, as reported by Transparent California, a pay and pension database.

The 17-year-old driver was initially arrested on the day of the incidents for traffic charges related to the fatal hit-and-run. The video evidence was not discovered until weeks later, when a school resource officer provided it to investigators. This led to a murder charge for the driver and a search for the passenger in the video, who was subsequently arrested on Tuesday.

Police provided limited information about the injuries sustained by the first victim, a 72-year-old bicyclist, and the driver of the Toyota Corolla they crashed into before striking Probst. However, they confirmed that Probst was hit while riding in a designated bike lane and left for dead on the side of the road.
