He emphasized that the year 2024 will be focused on growth, with Uber completing approximately 2 billion trips every quarter. To sustain this growth rate, the company aims to add an additional 1.5 billion trips each year. Khosrowshahi highlighted various growth initiatives, such as two-wheeler services in Sao Paulo, three-wheelers in New Delhi, a new bus service in Egypt to alleviate congestion, and grocery delivery in Santiago, Chile. He emphasized the necessity of innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset to achieve continued growth.

In 2022, Indians spent a total of 11 billion minutes traveling with Uber. October 2022 witnessed the highest number of package deliveries through Uber Connect. The cities with the most Uber trips in 2022 were Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Khosrowshahi also mentioned the expansion of Uber’s services beyond transporting people, with Uber Eats now accounting for 50% of the overall business. He stated that transportation of goods has grown to a $50 billion industry, and Uber aims to become the operating system for people’s everyday lives.

At the same event, Uber and Oracle announced Collect and Receive, a new offering on the Oracle Retail platform that connects retailers and consumers to enhance last-mile delivery. This solution allows retailers to link with Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, through pre-integrated APIs. It provides customers with more choices for delivery options, including same-day and scheduled delivery, order pickup, and returns to retail or postal locations.

This joint offering demonstrates the importance of on-demand delivery for consumers, and retailers are adapting to meet these expectations. Khosrowshahi expressed the desire to make on-demand delivery and returns more accessible for retailers, streamlining their logistics and enhancing customer loyalty and sales.
