Shocking Incident: Predator Vigilante Meets Tragic End in Restaurant Shooting

A 40-year-old Detroit-area man who disguised himself as a 15-year-old girl on social media to expose alleged sexual predators has tragically been shot and killed during an altercation at a restaurant. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two individuals, aged 17 and 18, in connection with the murder of Robert Wayne Lee, a resident of Pontiac. Lee adopted the online persona “Boopac Shakur” while carrying out his mission. Although his efforts led to the apprehension of multiple men, including a prison deputy, it was later discovered that he had misidentified one individual as a sexual predator, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

On Monday, Sheriff Michael Bouchard revealed that Lee had confronted an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old at a restaurant in Pontiac, located approximately 30 miles northwest of Detroit. An argument erupted between Lee and the 18-year-old, during which the 17-year-old pulled out a gun and shot Lee. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Lee succumbed to his injuries. The names of the two suspects have not been disclosed. The case has now been presented to the Oakland County prosecutor’s office for further evaluation and determination of charges. Bouchard stated that the investigation will explore any potential connections between the shooting and Lee’s efforts to unmask sexual predators.

Several online videos depict Lee and others confronting individuals suspected of being sexual predators in public settings. In an interview with WJBK-TV, Lee emphasized that sexual predators often initiate contact with their victims through online platforms. He compared the prevalence of cellphones in grooming victims to the ominous image of a stranger offering candy from a white van. Notably, one of Lee’s videos shared on social media in 2022 prompted the sheriff’s office to arrest a probationary jail deputy who had arranged a meeting for sexual purposes with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Bouchard revealed that the deputy was promptly dismissed from his position following the discovery of the incriminating video. However, Bouchard also advised against the potential dangers involved in individuals taking matters into their own hands when confronting alleged child predators or individuals suspected of criminal activities.
