Russia’s Impactful Strike on President Zelensky’s Hometown: Unveiling the Latest Developments

A missile attack targeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown, resulting in the death of one policeman and the injury of at least 73 people, including nine police officers. Additional attacks took place in the southern Kherson region, claiming three lives. These strikes were part of a series of Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight. Concurrently, Moscow is attempting to solidify its political position through local elections in the four illegally annexed regions, despite lacking full control. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has declared these elections as “fake.”

In the recent days, a Russian attack on a market in eastern Ukraine led to the death of 16 individuals, escalating concerns among local residents about the possibility of the conflict spreading into the neighboring NATO-member country, Romania. On Friday, ten buildings were damaged in an attack on Zelensky’s hometown, Kryvyi Rih. Photos circulating on Telegram display the aftermath, including a building on fire, burnt timbers, and emergency services evacuating the wounded. Ukrainian Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, confirmed that three people were killed in Odradokamianka, a village in the Kherson region, as a result of a Russian bomb.

Simultaneously, Russia is conducting local elections in the occupied part of the Kherson region. Reports from local residents and Ukrainian activists indicate that election poll workers have been accompanied by armed soldiers during house calls. Ukraine has denounced these elections, urging its allies to condemn Russia’s actions and refuse to recognize any administration formed through these votes.
