In Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, a farmer and his wife were discovered dead on Tuesday as a result of multiple hack wounds within their farm.
According to a report from the police on Wednesday, July 12, the bodies of 53-year-old Carlos Bala-wa and his 52-year-old wife Julie were found at their farm in Barangay Buenavista’s Sitio Kalingkingan.
Investigations revealed that the couple had gone to their farm in Buenavista to repair the hose supplying water to the forest area.
After the couple failed to return home, their son-in-law, who remains unidentified in the report, went to the farm and discovered their bodies.
Police spokesperson Captain Manny Pawid stated in a statement on Wednesday that a thorough investigation was underway and a person of interest had been identified. However, the person’s name was withheld to prevent compromising the follow-up investigation.
The motive behind the killings is still unknown, according to the police.
