Nonprofit Reports Release of American Nurse and Her Child by Kidnappers in Haiti

The Hill News reported that an incident of kidnapping in Haiti has reached a positive outcome as an American nurse, Alix Dorsainvil, and her child have been released by their abductors. The nurse and her daughter were taken captive in late July from a small health clinic close to the capital, Port-au-Prince. The nonprofit organization El Roi Haiti, a Christian ministry, confirmed the release in a blog post on Wednesday, mentioning that Dorsainvil and her child are currently recovering. However, the organization did not provide any additional details about the release and requested privacy for the family during this time of healing and processing.

It is important to note that the U.S. Embassy in Haiti has not yet issued a statement on the matter. The embassy had temporarily closed due to the escalating violence caused by local gangs. Authorities from the United States are actively investigating the kidnapping incident.

Alix Dorsainvil, a resident of New Hampshire, worked as a community health nurse for the school children under El Roi’s care. She was abducted by a group of armed men who managed to infiltrate El Roi’s premises and subsequently demanded a ransom of $1 million.
