National: Putin Addresses Security Conference as Russia Launches Missile Barrage on Ukraine

Russian forces have unleashed a barrage of missiles across Ukraine, resulting in casualties among civilians and infrastructure damage. These attacks occurred just before a security conference outside Moscow, where top Russian military officials and their counterparts from allied countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa gathered.

The missiles struck cities throughout Ukraine, including areas far behind the front lines where Ukraine is fighting against entrenched Russian forces. Moscow has heavily fortified its defenses along the 1,000-kilometer front line, making it difficult for Ukraine to regain control of occupied territories.

Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak condemned the attacks on Twitter, describing them as deliberate large-scale attacks on civilians solely for the purpose of killing and psychological pressure.

In the aftermath of the attacks, it was confirmed that three employees of the Swedish bearings maker SKF were killed in Lutsk, and one person was killed in Kramatorsk after a food warehouse was hit. In addition, a strike in Smila left parts of the city without water and damaged a medical facility.

This barrage of attacks in Ukraine follows a previous wave of missile and drone strikes carried out by Russian forces on Odesa. These repeated attacks have targeted vital facilities for Ukraine’s grain exports and have caused damage to important historical sites. Moscow’s decision to terminate an agreement allowing grain exports from Ukraine to countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia has contributed to the escalation of these attacks.
