National: Pete Davidson Sentenced to 50 Hours of Community Service Following Car Accident Involving a Residential Property

Actor and comedian Pete Davidson has been ordered to complete 50 hours of community service in New York for a reckless driving charge. In March, Davidson drove his car into a Beverly Hills home, resulting in property damage. The court also mandated that he complete an 18-month diversion program, attend 12 hours of traffic school, pay restitution to the homeowners, and visit a morgue to learn about the victims of reckless driving. Prosecutors stated that Davidson is likely to fulfill his community service with the New York Fire Department (NYFD). Davidson’s father, who was a firefighter with the NYFD, tragically died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The NYFD expressed their willingness to support Davidson in completing his community service.

“As the son of a 9/11 hero, we would be happy to provide Mr. Davidson an opportunity to do his required community service,” the NYFD stated.

Davidson has not publicly commented on the court order. The incident occurred on March 4 when Davidson’s car collided with a fire hydrant and then hit a home in Beverly Hills. He was accompanied by his rumored girlfriend, actress Chase Sui Wonders, at the time.

No one was seriously injured in the crash. On June 16, Davidson was charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving. The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office stated that they believe Davidson engaged in reckless driving, resulting in the collision with the home. Davidson’s TV series “Bupkis” premiered in May, and he will also appear in the film “Dumb Money” alongside Paul Dano and Shailene Woodley. The film tells the true story of amateur Reddit investors who led the GameStop short squeeze in January 2021. “Dumb Money” is set to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
