Larry Nassar, the disgraced sports doctor, is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence for sexually assaulting gymnasts, including Olympic medalists.
Nassar was convicted in both state and federal courts for his abusive actions. He confessed to sexually assaulting athletes while working at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians. Additionally, Nassar pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
In 2018, during victim impact statements, numerous athletes testified that they had reported Nassar’s abuse to adults, including coaches and athletic trainers, over the course of his more than two-decade-long spree. However, these reports went unaddressed.
