July 10 (UPI) – Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård has been chosen as the recipient of the Leopard Club Award at Switzerland’s 76th Locarno Film Festival in August.
The festival, scheduled to take place from August 2nd to 12th, will be attended by Skarsgård and his son Gustaf for the premiere of their new movie, “What Remains”.
A screening of Skarsgård’s 1990 film, “Good Evening, Mr. Wallenberg”, is also on the agenda for August 3, while the actor will accept the Leopard Club Award on August 4 and participate in a Q&A session with film enthusiasts at the Forum at Spazio Cinema on August 5.
Giona A. Nazzaro, the festival’s artistic director, praised Skarsgård, stating, “Stellan Skarsgård belongs to the tradition of European actors who have excelled in both auteur cinema and Hollywood. With a captivating stage presence, he has left an indelible mark on every role he has portrayed. Skarsgård’s ability to reinvent himself according to the demands of directors and scripts has allowed him to inject his own personality into incredibly diverse films.”
Skarsgård, 72, is renowned for his performances in “Andor”, “Chernobyl”, “Dune”, “Avengers”, “Thor”, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “Mamma Mia!”, “Good Will Hunting”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Breaking the Waves”, and “In Order of Disappearance”.
The actor, who has eight children including actors Alexander and Bill Skarsgård, continues to leave a lasting impact on the film industry with his versatile talents and captivating performances.
