Linda Evangelista Desires a “Normal Upbringing” for Her Son, Commends Step-Mother Salma Hayek

In the 1980s and 1990s, supermodels Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell were the queens of magazine covers and media attention. However, they have now found contentment in stepping away from the spotlight. The four iconic models grace the cover of American and British Vogue’s September issue, where they not only promote the new documentary “The Super Models” on Apple TV+ but also provide a glimpse into their lives beyond the runway.

Evangelista, a mother to her son Augie whom she shares with François-Henri Pinault, reveals her desire for a normal upbringing for her child, despite their fame and fortune. The September Vogue cover features Evangelista alongside Crawford, Turlington, and Campbell as they reminisce about their supermodel days and share insights into their off-duty lives as well.

Evangelista also opens up about a $50 million CoolSculpting case that she has recently settled, expressing her relief and gratitude. She talks about how Madison Square Garden used to offer her courtside seats, but that gradually stopped as she faded out of the public eye. Nevertheless, she takes it all in stride, stating that she and her peers are content with buying tickets and sitting with the fans in the nosebleed seats. She emphasizes her desire to give her son a normal upbringing and tells a story about him asking if she could use her connections to gain access to Chanel, to which she firmly asserts that she does not want him to develop a sense of entitlement.

Evangelista also praises Salma Hayek, Pinault’s current wife and the mother of his daughter Valentina, for her kindness and support. Hayek went out of her way to provide a beautiful Thanksgiving feast for Evangelista when she was unwell, cementing their friendship.

Crawford, for her part, shares that she is happy to step back from the limelight and focus on being a mother to her daughter Kaia Gerber, who has followed in her footsteps as a model.

Turlington, who is married to actor Edward Burns, reveals that she prefers being known by her married name and enjoys the perks of being at the top of the alphabet, like when waiting for her turn during medical appointments.

As for Campbell, the only member of the group still actively walking the runway, she talks about her experience as a mother to her 2-year-old daughter and her newborn son. Despite her hectic schedule, she manages to travel the world with her children, though she acknowledges that things will change once her daughter starts school.

The September 2023 issue of Vogue is set to hit newsstands on August 22nd, offering readers a glimpse into the lives and reflections of these legendary supermodels.
