August 11, 2023 (UPI) — Davante Adams, the star wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, suffered a potential leg injury during Friday’s practice session in Henderson, Nevada. Adams had to leave the practice early, raising concerns among the team and fans.

After the incident, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels expressed his uncertainty about the severity of the injury, stating that he hadn’t received any test results yet but didn’t believe it to be a “crazy serious” situation.

The injury occurred while the Raiders were engaged in a joint practice session with the San Francisco 49ers at the Intermountain Health Performance Center.

Various news sources, including the Las Vegas Review-Journal, NFL.com, and ESPN, reported that Adams sustained a hit from 49ers defenders Charvarius Ward and Oren Burks, resulting in him staying on the ground before being assisted to the sideline.

Adams, visibly pointing to his calf area, limped off the field and made his way to the Raiders locker room for further evaluation.

Last season, Adams showcased his incredible skills by accumulating 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns on 100 receptions in 17 starts. This performance earned him his third-consecutive first-team All-Pro selection. Additionally, Adams has recorded at least 1,300 yards in four of the last five seasons, including the last three consecutive years.

Since 2016, Adams has scored an impressive 83 receiving touchdowns. In 2022, he signed a lucrative 5-year, $140 million contract, solidifying his position as a key player for the Raiders.

On the team’s unofficial depth chart, Adams is listed alongside Jakobi Meyers and Hunter Renfrow as the top wide receivers for the Raiders.

Other wide receivers on the roster include Phillip Dorsett II, DeAndre Carter, Tre Tucker, Keelan Cole, Cam Sims, D.J. Turner, Chris Lacy, and Kristian Wilkerson.

The Raiders will face the San Francisco 49ers in their preseason opener on Sunday, August 13 at 4 p.m. EDT in Las Vegas.
