LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Israeli forces have reportedly killed 19 Palestinians according to Gazan officials. The targets included a key hospital in the north of the enclave where a number of patients, including many infants, perished due to lack of power amidst intense fighting.
The Israeli troops also launched assaults on houses in Khan Younis, killing at least 13 residents. Tanks have been positioned outside Al Shifa Hospital, Gaza City’s primary medical center. Israeli authorities claim that the hospital is being used as a disguised headquarters for Hamas fighters.
The Israeli military stated that they are arranging the transfer of incubators into Gaza to assist in the evacuation of newborns from the hospital. Moreover, the Gaza health ministry reported that 32 patients died in the three days prior, including three newborns, with 650 patients still inside the Al Shifa hospital seeking medical care.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden has urged Israel to protect Gaza’s hospitals and expressed hope for reduced hostile action. He also referred to ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and efforts to release prisoners with Qatari mediation.
Israel has released video and photos of what it claims to be weapons stored in a hospital basement, a claim that has been denied by Hamas. The ongoing conflict has led to the displacement of thousands of Gazans and further escalated tension in the West Bank where clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians have resulted in several fatalities.
