Elon Musk announces Twitter’s decision to restrict users’ tweet consumption- National news

Twitter is implementing limitations on the number of tweets per day that various accounts can read, aiming to discourage “extreme levels” of data scraping and system manipulation, according to a post by Executive Chair Elon Musk on the social media platform on Saturday.

Verified accounts will be temporarily limited to reading 6,000 posts a day, while unverified accounts will be limited to 600 posts a day. New unverified accounts will have a limit of 300 posts a day, Musk added.

Musk further stated that the temporary reading limitations will soon increase to 8,000 posts per day for verified users, 800 posts per day for unverified users, and 400 posts per day for new unverified users. However, he did not provide specific details on when these increases will be implemented.

Elon Musk expressed his concern about the aggressive scraping of Twitter data by hundreds of organizations, which significantly affects user experience.

Musk also criticized artificial intelligence firms, such as OpenAI, for using Twitter’s data to train their large language models.

Twitter has previously taken measures to regain the trust of advertisers who left the platform under Musk’s ownership and to increase subscription revenue through the Twitter Blue program, which includes verification check marks.
