Eiffel Tower Evacuated Twice Following Bomb Threat

The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris was forced to evacuate twice on Saturday due to bomb threats, as reported by French media outlet BFM.

To ensure the safety of visitors, all three floors of the tower and the courtyard below were cleared of tourists for more than two hours early on Saturday afternoon. At around 12:15 p.m., police swiftly evacuated the tower and established a security perimeter.

After assessing the validity of the threat, the landmark was reopened at approximately 3:30 p.m., only to be evacuated again around 7:30 p.m.

The spokesperson for the monument revealed that such evacuations are standard procedures in rare cases like these.

According to reports, it was the first time since September 2020 that the tower had to be cleared for such an extended period of time.

While the tower closed for the evening, it eventually reopened after the second evacuation.

Situated in the heart of Paris, overlooking the Seine River, the Eiffel Tower is a major tourist attraction, welcoming more than 5.8 million visitors in 2022.
