A third of British women do not regularly check their breasts for signs of cancer, according to a survey conducted by beauty brand Avon.
The survey also revealed that a quarter of respondents lacked confidence in their ability to spot symptoms of breast cancer.
The NHS recommends that women should see their GP if they notice any changes in size or shape of their breasts, feel a difference in the skin, notice a new lump or swelling, experience nipple discharge, observe a change in nipple position, develop a rash, or feel any discomfort or pain.

The survey, which included 1,000 women, found that those aged between 18 and 24 exhibited the lowest confidence in performing self-examinations compared to other age groups.
Breast cancer affects approximately one in seven women during their lifetime, with around 56,000 women in the UK being diagnosed with the condition each year.
Researchers at Zurich University have developed a penny-sized rubber patch inspired by octopus suckers that could potentially offer an injection-free method of delivering drugs. The patch adheres to the inside of the cheeks and allows for medication to be absorbed into the bloodstream. According to a poll conducted by finance firm Legal and General, more than a third of people in the UK have not discussed end-of-life plans with their family. The survey also revealed that three-quarters of respondents had not written a will, and only a fifth had organized legal papers, such as a lasting power of attorney, in case they become mentally incapable of making their own decisions.
