In a groundbreaking study published in the prestigious medical journal Nature Reviews Urology, researchers highlight the lack of knowledge surrounding male infertility, resulting in women shouldering the burden of invasive assisted reproduction procedures.
According to Sarah Kimmins, a professor at Universite de Montreal and a member of the research group, the main problem lies in the fact that the causes of male infertility are still unknown, and current diagnoses and treatments are not tailored to the specific causes. “It’s a one-size-fits-all approach,” she explains.
