Pop star Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, have decided to separate after their year-long marriage, according to a reliable source who is familiar with the situation.
The source stated in a text message, “They have chosen to separate and it is in Britney’s best interest.”
Asghari has taken the step of filing for divorce. The second source revealed that he has vacated the home they shared and is now residing in a place of his own.
Requests for comment from Spears, 41, and Asghari, 29, have not yet been addressed by their representatives.
Spears and Asghari first met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, and their romantic relationship began shortly after.
