Republican poll watcher Scott Hall was photographed in a police booking mugshot by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. This comes after a grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 of his associates for their involvement in attempting to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results in Atlanta on August 22, 2023.

Scott Hall, one of the 18 co-defendants of former President Donald Trump in his Georgia election interference case, pleaded guilty Friday in Atlanta to five misdemeanor conspiracy charges.

Hall is the first person charged with Trump to plead guilty in the case, which alleges a widespread racketeering conspiracy to overturn Trump’s 2020 electoral loss to President Joe Biden.

During a hearing in Fulton County Superior Court, Hall confirmed to Judge Scott McAfee that his plea agreement requires him to testify in future proceedings, including the trials of his co-defendants, including Trump.

The 59-year-old bail bondsman has been sentenced to five years of probation, a $5,000 fine, and 200 hours of community service as part of the deal.

Judge McAfee also ordered Hall to write a letter of apology to the state of Georgia for his crimes and prohibited him from participating in the administration of elections.

In last month’s indictment, Hall was accused of willfully tampering with electronic voting machines in Coffee County, Georgia, and collaborating with several other co-defendants, including pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell.

Originally, he faced seven criminal charges, but on Friday, those charges were reduced to five misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to interfere with the election, to which he pleaded guilty.

A spokesperson for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is prosecuting the Trump defendants, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Hall’s plea.

Meanwhile, several co-defendants in the case, namely Jeffrey Clark, Cathy Latham, David Shafer, and Shawn Still, had their attempts to move their cases to federal court denied by a federal judge in Georgia.

Previously, Trump’s lawyers had expressed their intention to seek a federal trial, but in a surprising court filing, they informed Judge McAfee that they had changed their minds.

“This decision is based on his well-founded confidence that this honorable court intends to fully and completely protect his constitutional right to a fair trial and guarantee him due process of law throughout the prosecution of his case,” said Trump’s lawyer Steven Sadow.

Not seeking a federal trial might be influenced by the lack of success that Mark Meadows, Trump’s White House chief of staff, had in transferring his trial to federal court.

Meadows is currently appealing a federal district judge’s denial of his transfer request.

As for Sidney Powell and her co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro, their trial is scheduled to begin on October 23. Both attorneys had requested speedy trials.

On Friday, Judge Scott McAfee denied Chesebro’s motion to dismiss the charges against him.
