Two individuals have been apprehended by the police in El Monte for allegedly robbing a woman at a gas station. The incident occurred at the Route 66 Gas Station on Garvey Avenue. The woman reported the incident to the authorities, stating that she had fallen victim to a grand theft. The suspects utilized Zelle to steal approximately $2,300 from the victim’s bank account.
According to the police, the woman had left her vehicle’s passenger door unlocked as she was refueling. This provided an opportunity for Gabriel Ramos to enter the vehicle and steal valuable possessions. Ramos then escaped in a getaway vehicle driven by Melissa Garavito. The victim shared surveillance footage on social media and various news platforms in an attempt to identify the suspects.
The detectives in West Covina were able to locate and apprehend Ramos and Garavito. They were both arrested for grand theft. During the investigation, a firearm and narcotics were found in Ramos’ possession. However, the suspects have since posted bond and were released.
