Hurricane Franklin is expected to move away from Bermuda overnight on Wednesday, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The first major hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, Franklin’s powerful winds are forecasted to decrease in strength in the next few hours. However, dangerous surf and rip current conditions are expected to persist along the mid-Atlantic and northeastern U.S. coasts.

In the latest update at 2 a.m. AST on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center reported that Franklin was located 170 miles north-northeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. The hurricane is currently moving east-northeast at a speed of 14 mph. Bermuda remains under a tropical storm warning, indicating the likelihood of tropical storm conditions.

According to the forecasters, Franklin will continue to move in an east-northeast direction over the next few days, gradually shifting to the northeast by Saturday. This trajectory suggests that the hurricane will continue to move away from Bermuda throughout the day.
