Baidu, the Chinese tech giant, recently introduced over 10 innovative AI applications following the successful launch of its Ernie chatbot. These applications aim to provide diverse and practical AI solutions to meet various industry needs.
One of the notable applications unveiled is WPS AI, a word processing app developed by Kingsoft Office, a company listed on the Shanghai stock exchange. This app integrates generative AI technology based on Baidu’s Ernie bot and utilizes Baidu’s “Qianfan” cloud platform for AI models, as stated in a press release.
Baidu stated that a significant number of businesses, about 10,000, actively utilize the Qianfan cloud platform on a monthly basis. Additionally, Baidu disclosed that over 6 million users have benefited from an AI-powered tool integrated within its cloud product, which resembles Google Drive. This AI assistant offers functionalities such as document search, text summarization, translation, and content creation.
During the event, Baidu showcased various generative AI-based products that have potential applications in traffic management, financial research, and coal mine logistics. However, the availability of these products for public use was not immediately clarified.
On August 31st, Baidu made its Ernie chatbot accessible to the public, indicating government approval of this AI-powered assistant. Other Chinese companies also introduced similar AI products around the same time.
Baidu initially introduced Ernie bot in March, but it was only accessible to business partners and individuals who joined a waitlist.
