Aristocrat Gaming has unveiled an exciting set of NFL-themed slot machines that are set to debut on casino floors nationwide when the football season kicks off in September. This collaboration marks a significant shift for the National Football League, which was staunchly opposed to legalized sports betting prior to the Supreme Court decision of 2018. Since then, the NFL has joined hands with the American Gaming Association to promote responsible gambling initiatives. Now, the league’s coveted license will be featured on Aristocrat’s casino slot machines throughout the country.
“The introduction of the first-ever NFL-themed slot machines is an opportunity for us to engage with our fans in a fresh and innovative way,” says Joe Ruggiero, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products at the NFL.
Aristocrat Gaming initially announced its multiyear agreement with the NFL in 2021.

“I firmly believe that this could be a game-changer for slot machines and casinos, pushing boundaries and driving innovation like never before,” says Aristocrat Gaming CEO Hector Fernandez in an interview with CNBC.
One of the key challenges in this project was to create a gaming experience that appeals to fans of different NFL teams, including what Aristocrat refers to as “displaced fans” – those who support a team but don’t live in its city. To address this, the Aristocrat games will feature customizable skins, allowing players to choose their favorite team. The game will then load relevant imagery, videos of memorable game moments, and even stadium anthems associated with the chosen team.

Fernandez believes that the NFL-branded slot machines will attract a younger male demographic to slots, which have traditionally been popular among older women. The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the demographic of casino-goers, with a younger crowd seeking entertainment options. As sports betting becomes more widespread across the nation, young adults, particularly men, may frequent casino sportsbooks more often.
Fernandez also emphasizes the importance of responsible gaming initiatives, developed in collaboration with the NFL. These initiatives will launch alongside the new slot machines. While the NFL upholds a commitment to responsible gaming and integrity, it has faced challenges this year with players and team staff violating rules regarding sports gambling. The most recent suspension came on Monday when Eyioma Uwazurike of the Denver Broncos was indefinitely suspended for betting on NFL games during the 2022 season. Uwazurike is the tenth player this year to be suspended for violating the league’s sports betting policy.
