LUCENA CITY — On July 11, the police intercepted three trucks and a backhoe that were involved in illegal quarrying in Mauban town in Quezon province.

A report from the Quezon police stated that members of the Provincial Mining and Regulatory Board (PMRB), along with local law enforcement, successfully intercepted the three trucks and the backhoe in Barangay Polo around 4:30 p.m. the previous day.

According to the report, the backhoe was found to be loaded with illegally extracted rocks and other mineral resources.

The drivers of the vehicles failed to provide a permit from the PMRB, which is responsible for controlling and supervising mining activities in the province.

As per the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 96-40 (Confiscation of Mineral Products, Tools, Equipment and Conveyance), the vehicles and quarry equipment were confiscated.

The drivers, trucks, and backhoe were temporarily placed under the custody of the local police station.
