Zack Snyder Unites an Unlikely Team in the Action-Packed ‘Rebel Moon’ Trailer

Zack Snyder brings an all-star cast together in the latest trailer for Rebel Moon, his new Netflix sci-fi epic that blends elements of Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven.

The film follows Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious woman who assembles a group of warriors to protect a peaceful farming village from oppressive imperialists looking to loot their resources and leave them to starve.

According to the official summary, Kora enlists Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), a compassionate farmer unacquainted with the realities of battle, to join her on a journey across various worlds in search of the Bloodaxes. Along the way, they recruit a band of fighters with shared desires for redemption, which include Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a skilled pilot and mercenary; General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a renowned leader; Nemesis (Doona Bae), a master swordsman; Tarak (Staz Nair), a captive with a noble lineage; and Milius (E. Duffy), a resistance fighter.

“I am a child of war,” declares Boutella’s character midway through the trailer. “I’ll find warriors to fight with us.”

The star-studded ensemble also features Ray Fisher, Fra Fee, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, and Anthony Hopkins, who lends his voice to a robot.

The Rebel Moon story is divided into two parts: A Child of Fire premieres on Dec. 22, with the second installment, The Scargiver, set for April 19, 2024.

Snyder initially conceived the project as a potential Star Wars film before transforming it into an original concept.

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” stated Snyder in a The Hollywood Reporter interview in 2021. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
