The recent incident in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday has left two individuals hospitalized after being shot, as reported by MEDIC.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released new details about the shooting that occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday, following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two juveniles with gunshot wounds, both suffering from life-threatening injuries. They were transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.
A photo posted on Twitter by a bystander displayed a heavy police presence blocking off the majority of the road.
Moreover, the police confirmed that one juvenile suspect is in custody, while another suspect believed to be connected to the shooting remains at large.
The cause of the shooting and the identities of those involved remain unknown at this time.
Crime reporter, Glenn Counts, interviewed residents living near the park where the incident took place. Aliyssa Baligod recounted hearing the gunshots from her 19th-floor apartment, mistaking them for fireworks initially. She described the chaos and commotion that followed the shots, with people running in every direction.
