During a recent trip to China, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen revealed that she inadvertently consumed “magic” mushrooms.
In a captivating interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett, Yellen disclosed that the mushrooms were included in a dish ordered for her at a chain restaurant during a dinner arranged by someone else. She was unaware of the mushrooms’ hallucinogenic properties at the time but discovered it later.
Yellen expressed her belief that if the mushrooms were prepared correctly, which she assumed was the case at the reputable restaurant she dined at, they would have no impact. She added that everyone enjoyed the mushrooms, the restaurant, and experienced no negative effects as a result of consuming them.
Yellen’s visit to China aimed to alleviate recent tensions between the United States and the Chinese government. This trip was part of broader efforts by both countries to address heightened military focus on each other.
“During the trip, we engaged in meaningful discussions about the global economy, developments in our respective economies, financial markets, and a wide range of concerns. We agreed to address these issues together over time,” Yellen shared with “Face the Nation” regarding her journey with Erin Burnett.
