Sept. 5 (UPI) — A Michigan woman’s mundane errand for her spouse led to a life-changing surprise when she snagged a $452,886 lottery prize.
The fortunate 70-year-old Genesee County resident recounted to Michigan Lottery officials how she headed to MoJoe’s Food and Spirits in Davison to purchase a lottery ticket for her husband.
“After my husband won $10 from the Lucky 7s Fast Cash game, he asked me to get him another ticket,” she shared. “While I was buying his ticket, I decided to treat myself to two Double Win Wild Time tickets.”
Little did she know, the second ticket would hold a significant surprise.
“Although the first ticket wasn’t a winner, the message I received when I scanned the second ticket caught my attention. I moved to an area with better lighting, closely examined the ticket, and there it was – a jackpot winner,” she exclaimed.
Overwhelmed with disbelief, she showed the ticket to her husband for verification.
“When he confirmed that it was indeed a jackpot-winning ticket, he responded with a few exuberant words, and we began celebrating with everyone at MoJoe’s,” she joyfully expressed.
The windfall of $452,886 will enable the winner to pay off her mortgage, finance an unforgettable fishing expedition to Alaska for her husband and son, and share the remaining sum with her loved ones.
