Why Biden’s dog isn’t to blame: Taking a closer look at Commander’s owners, Joe and Jill

When I was about eight years old, I took my mother’s live-in-boyfriend’s dog for a walk around the block after school one day. On my way home, my neighbor’s German Shepherd ran out of their gate and came barreling towards our tiny terrier, ready to rip him limb from limb. I bent over reflexively to protect him, as I knew what the neighbor’s dog was capable of. He had already bitten two of my friends on our block; one on the leg, the other on the hand. In fact, one of my friends even needed surgery to correct the damage. I was able to protect my dog, but at the cost of my own physical safety. The neighbor’s German shepherd bit through my right buttocks, with his teeth meeting in the middle of my flesh. I had to have the wound cleaned out in the emergency room, and to this day, I still have nerve damage.

Since that injury 30 years ago, I have favored my left side, always sitting on the other side. As a result, as I grew, my right leg became shorter, causing my hips and back to be out of alignment, resulting in daily pain and discomfort.

What does this have to do with the current situation involving Joe Biden’s dogs? Well, it reminded me of my neighbor’s dog and the attack I experienced as a child. Recently, it was reported that another one of Biden’s dogs has been banished from the White House. Major, the older dog, was sent to the Biden’s Delaware home in December 2021, and now, their younger dog Commander has been removed as well.

Axios reported that the dogs have been aggressive towards not only Secret Service agents, but also the White House residence staff. Many members of the residence staff have been fearful of Major and Commander, and it seems that the Biden family has refused to address the issue and protect their staff.

This is concerning. The Bidens are aware that their dogs pose a danger to those who serve and protect their family, yet they have failed to take corrective action for months.

I can relate to the situation, as my neighbors also refused to handle the out-of-control behavior of their dog until it had bitten three children, including myself. Eventually, their dog had to be put down. It was unfair to their family, as well as everyone who lived nearby and had to walk past their home. The same can be said for the Bidens.

When my family decided to get a dog, we made sure to choose a breed that was friendly and forgiving, considering our family dynamics with young children. Getting a rescue dog with an unknown history, especially from an aggressive breed, would have been unwise. Unfortunately, the Bidens made this unwise decision and chose to add another German shepherd to their already chaotic environment.

It is truly a mark on the Bidens’ character that they have failed to care for their staff or properly train their dogs. In March 2021, when Major had bitten a Secret Service agent, Joe Biden downplayed the incident and claimed that Major had not penetrated the skin. However, subsequent biting incidents have occurred, including one involving Commander.

Stern measures need to be taken when dealing with aggressive dogs, as emphasized by W.R. Koehler in his book “The Koehler Method of Dog Training.” Dogs like Major and Commander can be rehabilitated, but it requires a commitment to training and discipline. It is clear that the measures taken by the Bidens have been insufficiently stern.

In conclusion, the Bidens need to take immediate action to address their dog’s behavior for the sake of their family, staff, and the dogs themselves. Their refusal to do so and their lack of personal accountability speaks volumes about their character. It is especially concerning that the commander in chief, who should exemplify personal responsibility, has shown little regard for the agents’ safety and his grandchildren’s well-being in his own household.
