West Ham near completion of £14m agreement with Man City for Carlos Borges as discussions commence regarding Michail Antonio’s move to Al-Ettifaq

West Ham are in the final stages of negotiations with Manchester City for the transfer of winger Carlos Borges. They are also in talks with Al-Ettifaq regarding the potential sale of striker Michail Antonio.

The Hammers have been interested in signing City’s Portuguese forward for some time, and the 19-year-old had an impressive season in the Premier League 2 competition, scoring 21 goals and providing 11 assists. West Ham, who recently sold Declan Rice for a large sum, are looking to reinvest and see Borges as an exciting prospect for the future.

The deal for Borges is expected to be around £14 million, but Manchester City will have a buy-back clause included in the agreement. This would be West Ham’s first signing of the summer transfer window, which has so far seen more departures than arrivals for the club.

With Antonio’s potential departure, West Ham manager David Moyes is eager to strengthen his attacking options. Borges, a left-sided winger, will compete with players like Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet for a place in the team as they navigate both domestic and European competitions, including the Europa League.

While Borges has yet to make his senior debut for Manchester City, he has represented Portugal at various youth levels. Antonio, on the other hand, seems likely to leave West Ham after spending eight years with the club. He has been linked to moves to Galatasaray and now Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. The Jamaican international had a successful season, scoring 14 goals for the Europa Conference League champions.

If the move goes through, Antonio would join Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, who are also reportedly close to signing Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. The 33-year-old Antonio has one year left on his current contract, with an option for an additional year. He has been an important attacking threat for West Ham, contributing 14 goals and five assists in the previous season.
