Water companies enforcing hosepipe bans and possible alternatives.

Essex and Suffolk Water

Essex and Suffolk Water, owned by the Northumbrian Water Group which also owns Northumbrian Water, is taking proactive measures to manage their resources and does not foresee the need for any restrictions despite the potential of another hot dry summer.

With their commitment to environmentally responsible practices, they are adequately prepared to handle the demands and challenges that may arise.

Hafren Dyfrdwy – Wrexham and parts of Denbighshire and Flintshire

Hafren Dyfrdwy, like Dwr Cymru, has no plans for a hose pipe ban.

Northumbrian Water

Northumbrian Water shares the same stance as Essex and Suffolk, with no expectations of implementing a hose pipe ban this year.

Portsmouth Water

Portsmouth Water has not enforced a hosepipe ban since 1976 and they do not anticipate any restrictions this year.

While their current water levels are above average, the company emphasizes the importance of responsible water usage, especially during peak times, and encourages customers to conserve water not just now, but year-round, considering the region’s water stress and the growing population.

SES – Surrey, west Sussex, west Kent, and south London

SES ensures that no hosepipe ban is currently in effect in the southeastern regions they serve. With their water resources in good shape, they have no plans for implementing a hosepipe ban in the near future.

Severn Trent – Midlands and the southwest

Severn Trent, based in the Midlands, emphasizes that they have not enforced a hosepipe ban since the 1990s and foresee no changes in the near future. Reservoir levels across the region are at around 85% capacity, thanks to the efforts of their operational teams, investment in water movement infrastructure, and the responsible water usage demonstrated by customers during the previous hot and dry summer.
