Warrant Issued for Armed Man Carrying High-Capacity Rifle in Public: Unveiling an Unsettling Incident!

A 24-year-old man accused of carrying a high-capacity rifle outside a Corona apartment complex, prompting police to open fire when he didn’t surrender, is currently being sought after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest due to his failure to appear in court.

The individual in question, Isaiah Janmar Goldmas from Ontario, was apprehended back in August 2022 after a thorough investigation by the Corona Police Department.

Goldmas is facing charges for two counts of firearm assault, carrying a loaded gun prohibited by the California Department of Justice, exhibiting a firearm not in self-defense, and resisting arrest.

Having been out on bond, Goldmas was expected to attend a settlement conference a week ago. Unfortunately, he failed to appear at the Riverside Hall of Justice, leading Riverside County Superior Court Judge Emma Smith to sign a bench warrant on August 29.

As of now, the defendant’s whereabouts are unknown.

According to the Corona police, on July 31, 2022, at around 6 a.m., witnesses became alarmed when they saw Goldmas carrying a rifle outside the Ashton Apartments on Stoneridge Drive.

Detective Daniel Clary stated that frightened witnesses immediately called 911, prompting patrol officers to utilize a remote-controlled drone to search the apartment complex. The drone located Goldmas in the parking lot, holding the rifle.

“When officers tried to approach the suspect, there was an officer-involved shooting,” the detective stated, without specifying whether Goldmas aimed the rifle or engaged in any other suspicious behavior. “The suspect dropped the rifle and fled to the Deerwood Apartment Complex.”

Fortunately, neither Goldmas nor any of the officers were injured during the incident.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol, Riverside Police Department, and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance, as mentioned by Clary.

“During the search, officers recovered the loaded semi-automatic rifle,” he added, mentioning that they were unable to locate the suspect.

Over the following weeks, investigators managed to confirm Goldmas’ identity as the individual seen in the parking lot. This eventually led to the issuance and execution of an arrest warrant at a location on International Way in Ontario, where Goldmas was taken into custody without any resistance.

No prior felony convictions in Riverside County have been recorded for Goldmas.
