A cockroach has become an internet sensation after a video captured it crawling inside a plane window.
The passenger, known only as Guo, was flying from Ningbo, Zhejiang to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan in China when she noticed a large cockroach near her window, according to local outlet Jimu News.
Guo initially expected the roach to disappear after a couple of minutes and did not inform any flight attendants about it, as reported by Jimu News.
“I didn’t think it would still be there after flying 3,000 kilometers. However, I couldn’t determine whether it was outside the window or inside the inner layer,” Guo explained.
In the video recorded by Guo, the cockroach can be seen moving up and down while the plane soars above the clouds.
The airline Guo was traveling with has not been named, but according to Jimu News, a representative confirmed that the cockroach was crawling between the layers of glass in the window.
The staff member speculated that the cockroach may have initially been in the plane’s cargo or luggage hold and climbed up to the window.
During an interview with Boiling Point Videos, Guo shared that she found the cockroach “entertaining” and spent the entire flight observing the unexpected passenger.
Guo’s video went viral on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter, and posts related to the incident garnered over 120 million views, according to data seen by Insider.
“Can they really survive at altitudes above 10,000 meters?” one person commented, accompanied by a crying emoji.
“As expected of a resilient cockroach,” remarked another individual.
