MANILA, Philippines — The Miss Earth pageant is set to make history this year with its largest participation ever. The annual international competition, held in Vietnam in December, will welcome at least 114 delegates from around the world. A press conference held at the Gem Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City on October 16 announced this exciting news. The event was attended by reigning Miss Earth Mina Sue Choi from South Korea, Miss Earth Air Sheridan Mortlock from Australia, and Miss Earth Fire Andrea Aguilera from Colombia. Lorraine Schuck, Executive Vice President of Philippine-based Miss Earth organizer Carousel Productions, also made the trip from Manila to attend the press conference. She was joined by Miss Earth Vietnam President Truong Ngoc Anh, who is also the CEO of TNA Entertainment, the company responsible for organizing the 23rd edition of the competition.

The press conference also showcased four stunning new crowns for the Miss Earth winner and her “elemental queens.” These bejeweled pieces, designed and crafted by Long Beach Pearl, are the same company that created the new Miss International crown introduced last year.

As with previous editions of the Miss Earth pageant, which were mainly held in the Philippines, this year’s competition in 2023 has a packed schedule for the delegates. The delegates are expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City starting from November 28. The welcome event will be the National Costume Competition, held at the Nguyen Hue Walking Street on December 2. On December 4, the Gem Convention Center will host the Best Eco Project presentation, where the delegates will showcase their environment and sustainable development projects. The delegates’ evening gown and swimsuit competitions, known as “Miss Earth 2023 X Fashion Voyage,” will take place in Van Phuc City on December 9. On December 14, the “Fashionature” ecotourism and fashion shoot will be held in Vietnam’s southwestern region. The delegates will return to Ho Chi Minh City for the talent competition on December 16 at the Saigon Opera House. The grand finale of the 2023 Miss Earth pageant will be held on December 22 at the newly-opened Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, the largest indoor convention center in Ho Chi Minh City. Reigning Miss Earth Mina Sue Choi will crown her successor at the event.

Representing the Philippines in the competition is pageant veteran and medical laboratory scientist Yllana Marie Aduana. She will strive to continue the country’s impressive record in the Miss Earth pageant and potentially become the fifth Filipino woman to claim the title.
