According to the survey, 79% of the nearly 1,000-foot barrier, or approximately 780 feet, is technically situated within Mexican territory, despite Texas’ intentions.
Last month, Mexico expressed their concerns about the barrier to the US, with Secretary of Foreign Relations Alicia Barcena stating that Mexico planned to send an inspection team to determine the extent to which the barrier encroaches upon their waters.
