In 2018, Devante Lawrence disappeared after going to the movies, according to North Carolina police. Recently, skeletal remains found in the woods have been positively identified as his.
The Fayetteville Police Department received a report on October 16 about the discovery of the remains in a wooded area. Upon arrival, they determined that the remains had been there for an extended period of time. Lawrence’s family had dropped him off at a movie theater in April 2018, and he had not been in contact since. Interestingly, the remains were found only a few blocks away from where he was last seen.
The remains were then sent to the Raleigh Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to establish the cause of death while the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit carried out an investigation. On November 10, the police stated that the medical examiner did not believe Lawrence’s death was the result of a homicide but have not disclosed how he died.
Fayetteville, located approximately 60 miles southwest of Raleigh, continues to remain in the spotlight following this tragic story.
