Unleashing the Power: Ford Transforms Mustang Mach-E into an Electrifying Rally Machine for Production

It won’t be long before children aspire to become Ford engineers rather than race car drivers or ball players. These engineers not only work on popular vehicles but also collaborate on exciting projects like Mustang supercars, powerful e-vans, and everything Raptor. Now, Ford’s team has taken electric vehicles in a new direction with the upcoming Mustang Mach-E Rally. This isn’t just a show car; it’s a real electric rally car set to hit the market in 2024.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally shares its dual-motor eAWD powertrain with the Mach-E GT. It boasts a consistent 480 hp but has been fine-tuned to deliver over 650 lb-ft of torque. Despite this increase in power, its range is not compromised. Ford aims for an EPA estimate of 250 miles, only 10 miles less than the Mach-E GT Performance Edition. The charging time is swift, with the ability to charge from 10 to 80% in just 37 minutes.

To tackle rally conditions, the Mach-E Rally features a suspension upgrade kit with a 20-mm lift, MagneRide shocks, and specially tuned springs. The 19-inch alloy wheels are designed for off-road adventures, paired with Michelin CrossClimate2 tires for improved traction. The car is equipped with an underbody kit to protect its vital components and optional mud flaps to reduce debris spray.

In terms of appearance, the Mach-E Rally stands out with its racing stripes, contrast roof, and unique front spoiler. Several vibrant color options are available, including Grabber Yellow, Grabber Blue, Eruption Green, Shadow Black, Star White, and Glacier Gray.

Ford’s CEO Jim Farley expressed his excitement, saying, “Mustang Mach-E Rally puts Ford’s decades of passion for rally championships around the world right in the hands of our customers. It takes Mustang where it hasn’t been before – to gravel and dirt roads.”

Ford introduces its first-ever RallySport drive mode, allowing drivers to have greater control and agility on various terrains. This mode offers a linear throttle response, enhanced yaw for sliding, and aggressive damping for improved handling in loose corners. Additionally, this drive mode improves performance on slippery roads and in snowy conditions.

After extensive testing, Ford unveiled the Mustang Mach-E Rally at the IAA Mobility Munich show. The five-seat e-crossover is expected to launch in early 2024 with a starting price of $65,000. Sales will commence shortly after.
