A 33-year-old mother of two arrived at the hospital in Paraguay, complaining of severe abdominal pain. Little did she know, she was actually in labor and gave birth to a baby girl. This unexpected delivery left everyone surprised and amazed.
During her visit to IPS Hospital, the unnamed woman experienced excruciating pain in her stomach. She didn’t realize she was pregnant and confidently denied being pregnant when asked by doctors. However, further examination revealed that she was indeed in labor and there was no time to transport her to the maternity hospital. She ended up giving birth naturally to a healthy baby girl.
After the successful delivery, the mother and her newborn were transferred to the maternity hospital for further care. Both of them are doing well.
This incident occurred in the city of Itauguá, Paraguay. The woman initially complained of severe stomach pain when she visited IPS Hospital. She insisted that she was not pregnant, but everything changed when she started bleeding heavily. A gynecologist conducted an examination and discovered that she was fully dilated, moments away from giving birth to her third child.
The mother successfully gave birth to a 6.6-pound baby girl. Both the mother and her daughter were transferred to the city’s maternity hospital. It’s relatively uncommon for a woman to be unaware of her pregnancy until she gives birth, but it happens more often than people realize.
Approximately one in 400 or 500 women experience what is known as a ‘cryptic pregnancy’ or a stealth pregnancy, where they don’t realize they are pregnant until at least five months into the pregnancy. About one in 2,500 women are completely unaware until they are about to give birth.
Many women mistakenly believe that being on birth control eliminates the possibility of pregnancy. However, no birth control method is 100% effective. Some birth control methods can even disrupt the menstrual cycle, making it difficult to recognize the absence of a period as a sign of pregnancy.
Women carry pregnancy weight differently, and some may not develop a noticeable baby bump until later in the pregnancy or have a smaller bump overall. These factors contribute to the challenges of identifying a pregnancy.
The severe abdominal pain the Paraguayan woman experienced was likely caused by contractions as her uterus prepared for childbirth.
