Bettors are fond of playing the Under in the Over/Under because it puts them in a winning position at the start of the game. However, this can quickly change.
A prime example of this occurred during Sunday’s college football game between No. 18 Oregon State and San Jose State in Northern California.

The Over/Under for the game was set at 54.5 points, and those who bet on the Under were feeling confident as the Beavers held a commanding 28-3 lead heading into the final 15 minutes.
However, San Jose State’s tight end Sam Olson recovered a fumble in the end zone at the start of the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 28-10.
Oregon State quickly responded with a touchdown, extending their lead to 35-10 with 10 minutes remaining.
Just when Under bettors thought they were in the clear, the Spartans lost a fumble with under seven minutes to go, giving them hope for a successful bet.
All Under bettors wanted was for the Beavers to run out the clock and secure the win.
However, Oregon State had other plans. They drove 54 yards in eight plays, ultimately scoring a touchdown to make it 42-10 with 3:13 left on the clock.
Under bettors still held on to hope. If the Beavers could stop the Spartans on downs, their bets would pay off.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. San Jose State mounted a 75-yard drive in 10 plays, ending with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Branden Alvarez with just four seconds remaining.
The final score was Oregon State 42, San Jose State 17, resulting in a combined total of 59 points.
Apologies to the Under bettors who were hoping for a different outcome.
