In observance of Veterans Day, all Alachua County offices will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2023, except for emergency services.
On Friday, November 10, the Alachua County Animal Shelter will also be closed. However, the shelter’s Animal Resource Officers are available round the clock, even on holidays, to respond to emergencies involving public safety and animals in immediate danger. If you need assistance during Sundays, holidays, or between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m., please dial 911. For non-emergency inquiries during regular hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., excluding holidays), kindly contact Alachua County Animal Resources at 352-264-6870.
Despite the holiday, residential curbside collection service for solid waste, recycling, and yard trash will continue as usual. However, please note that the five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers will be closed on Friday, November 10, but will reopen the next day. The Transfer Station at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park, the Hazardous Waste Collection Center, and the Office of Waste Collection will maintain their regular hours of operation.
