UFC President Dana White anticipates no consequences for domestic violence incident

—

Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), expressed his belief that he will not face consequences following a recent video showing him in a physical altercation with his wife. White made these statements during a media day event for UFC Fight Night 217.

When asked about potential repercussions from the company, White responded, “What should the repercussions be? You tell me. I take 30 days off? How does that hurt me?”

White continued, “Me leaving hurts the company, hurts my employees, hurts the fighters. It doesn’t hurt me.”

“What is my punishment? Here’s my punishment: I have to walk around for however long I live…and this is how I’m labeled now,” White stated.

“The punishment is that I did it, and now I have to deal with it,” White concluded.

The video, obtained by TMZ, shows White and his wife, Anne, arguing and exchanging slaps at a nightclub in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on New Year’s Eve. Both White and his wife are not currently facing any legal charges related to the incident.

White claims that discussions have taken place between himself, Ari Emanuel (chief executive of Endeavor and owner of UFC), and broadcaster ESPN regarding the appropriate course of action.

“We’ve had plenty of internal discussions—with Ari, with ESPN—nobody’s happy,” White admitted. “Nobody’s happy about this. Neither am I. But it happened.”

White waits to place the UFC lightweight championship belt on Charles Oliveira after the Brazilian's victory against Michael Chandler in 2021.

White also made it clear that he does not intend to make excuses for his behavior and reiterated his strong stance against domestic violence.
